The key role of a automobile tire balance weight is to maintain the dynamic balance of the wheel at high speeds. Due to the manufacturing process, the mass distribution of the overall wheel parts may not be uniform, resulting in dynamic imbalance during high-speed rotation, which in turn causes wheel shake and steering wheel vibration. In order to prevent or eliminate this phenomenon, it is necessary to add counterweights, i.e., tire balancing blocks, at specific locations on the wheel to correct the balance of the various edge sections.
There are various types of automobile tire balance weight, commonly including lead balancers, iron balancers, and aluminum balancers. These blocks are usually measured in grams, with common weights including 5 grams, 10 grams and 15 grams. There are two main types of mounting: one is affixed to the inner rim of the rim and fixed to the rim using glue or other adhesives; the other is hung on the outer edge of the rim and embedded in the edge of the rim by means of steel hooks or other connectors.
Dynamic balancing adjustment process
The following steps need to be followed when performing a tire dynamic balance adjustment:
Prepare tools and materials: this includes tools such as a dynamic balancer, tire pressure gauge, jack, wrench, and an appropriate amount of balancing blocks.
Park the vehicle on a level surface and use the jack to lift the vehicle, then remove the tires that need to be dynamically balanced.
Check the tires for tread depth, tire pressure, and any wear or damage, if needed, first.
Mount the tire on the Dynamic Balancer and make sure that the tire fits tightly into the interface of the Dynamic Balancer.
Rotate the tire so that the needle of the Dynamic Balancer points to the center position and then lock the tire.
Add or remove the balancing blocks at the appropriate locations on the tire so that the balancer's pointer points near the zero position.
Rotate the tire again and observe if the balancer's pointer remains near the zero position. If the needle shifts, it will be necessary to continue adjusting the number and position of the balancing blocks until the needle stabilizes near the zero position.
When the needle of the dynamic balancer is stable near zero, it means that the dynamic balance of the tire has been adjusted. At this point you can mount the tire back on the car and inflate the tire to the proper pressure.
